A Hidden Gem of Traditional Flavors This place is truly underrated! In a time where most restaurants are leaning toward modern or fusion cuisine, it's incredibly refreshing to find a spot that still serves authentic, traditional dishes done right. The flavors took me straight back to childhood — comforting, rich, and clearly made with care and experience. You can really taste the heritage in every bite. It's getting harder and harder to find this kind of food nowadays, and this restaurant deserves way more recognition. If you're someone who appreciates authentic, time-honored recipes, this is the place to go. Definitely worth more than its current rating.
Excellent food but avoid peak hours or have to wait 1 hour. Fried rice, great! Fried chicken - crispy and still juicy inside Mongolian ribs - nice savory Tofu with mince meat - contrasting flavor between the 2, comfort food Sambal kang Kong - great, not too spicy Spinach with three eggs - another confirm food done well Omelette - can't go wrong, kids like it Total bill under $200 for 10 pax, totally worth it! Recommend to come before 7pm for dinner and definitely do make a reservation!
One of the best Zi char places in Singapore hands down! It’s very rare to find a places where almost everything on the menu is top tier and this place does it. The owners are also really friendly and accommodating. I see other reviews talking about the longer waiting times but it’s probably because they make everything fresh and from scratch without compromising on quality. Don’t just take my word for it. Try it and see for yourself! Salted egg pork ribs are really good!
Updated: still amazed how underrated this place is, nice aircon tzichar with great food. We randomly ordered salted egg pork ribs with rice and egg, which was so good, literally the best salted egg dish I've tried in singapore. So much in a 1 pax version that can feed two people to fullness. Sweet potato leaves with sambal also good. Surprised at the low ratings, they actually serve very tasty tzichar dishes at a standard price range, with air-con some more. We just blindly ordered a few dishes and they were all surprisingly good. Got the 红烧茄子,sotong youtiao, hotplate venison, three egg spinach. Eggplant had wok hei, youtiao very crispy, venison sauce went well with the meat, the egg was generous and the veggie dish tasted super wholesome. We polished off every dish. Will come again!
This restaurant serves good and delicious food. To enjoy this experience, you need to take note of ONE important thing: AVOID CROWD. When we had our dinner at 5pm, we were the first customers and food was served very fast. However, if you come at 7pm on a weekend, then be prepared to wait up to 1hr for the food to be served. This is simple. There are only 2 cooks in the kitchen. At 7pm, the restaurant will have about 80 customers. Secondly, if you want to have your CNY reunion dinner at this restaurant, again, be prepared to wait for 1hr 30mins for your food to be served. As they cannot place tables and chairs outside the restaurant, it is quite squeezy inside the cosy restaurant. Therefore, do avoid this evening weekend timing and peak festive season if you cannot wait. Because the food is really good! Yummy! It is one of the most true blue zichar restaurants around this neighbourood. People from Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Panjang, Hillview, Bukit Batok will come and eat here. This is a great place because beside this restaurant, you have 4 cafes for drinks and desserts! Super convenient. But do remember, AVOID evening timing. Have an early dinner at 5pm, walk around the neighbourhood, and then go for the nearby ice-cream cafes, with coffee and cakes.
delicious zi char place! all the dishes were not too salty or too oily. We rly loved the sweet & sour fish and the ngoh hiang. The tuneric inside the Sambal Kang Kong was a bit too overpowering but the rest of the dishes tasted delicious!!
Excellent service, hospitable uncle who ensured our food came fast and took our order quickly. Food was delicious and affordable. Highly recommended. Full house on a weekend, recommended to book a reservation early.
